The Seagate Story

This week's edition of Pop City has a great story about the Seagate R&D Center in the Strip District and how it came to be in Pittsburgh. It's a great example of:
  • how the research at the universities can attract corporate investment
  • how attracting corporate R&D centers can create lots of high-paying jobs for the region
  • how the region's quality of life and low cost of living can attract top talent
  • how the technology developed in Pittsburgh can keep global manufacturing firms competitive
  • how individuals with a passion for the region can influence economic development decisions
